This FishingWire article has some great information derived from Mako tracking studies conducted in the Southern California area.
The most relevant to fishermen:
- Mako sharks in the study covered up to 12,000/year, but consistently returned to certain areas in the eastern Pacific
- They prefer to stay in the top 160 feet
- They seem to prefer temperatures between 60 – 70 degrees
